Here we are the beginning of another month!! I cant beleive were this year is disappearing to. Isnt it great that we still have the warm weather about.
February has been a great month for new fabrics!!! Lots and lots of them have arrived. We have in a great new Flannel range called Mayfair Flannels. These are stunning! Large Florals and lots of tone on tone fabrics to blend, included is a great stripe and we have some spots and herringbone weave look from another range that we have included as they look so good together. Flannel quilts are great for winter so warm and snuggly!! these fabrics have been quite hard to find but I love this collection of fabrics.
I couldnt resist buying Nancy Halversens new range of fabrics called "Garden Song". The Panel is stunning and the rest of the fabic range are all great blenders for lots of different quilts. Colours are pinks, blues, creams, greens, and soft golds. I have a few new patterns of baby quilts in mind for these fabrics.
Calling all quilters who have a dog this is the fabric for you "Playful Pups" the cutest little puppy faces and great colours. Make your furry friend a quilt or a blanket.
"Wildwood" is another new range of fabrics, bright colours and trendy designs make this range worth looking at! great for home decor or bag making.
When you get the chance call instore and have a chat and a browse we love seeing you!! and are happy to show you all that is new!!
Fabrics expected for March (to name a few) are "All Cooped Up" by
Mc Kenna Ryan and Valori Wells Baby Flannels called "Della" these are very trendy for our new mums and there babies.
Classes are going well!! with our Beginners Patch class under way already and our Intermediate Patchwork class starting this week. Our Hand Applque classes has proved to be very popular with only only space left, this class starts this week.
We have had a few cancellations over this week for Flossie the Doll with Jill Maas so if you feel like joining us and doing this class give us a call today, these are always the best classes to be in they are so much fun!!
I am really looking forward to having Robyn Alexander joining us from Australia, she is teaching the Shimmering Nights Bag. This is an awesome bag! we have one space left if you are keen. Some machine skills are essential. We also stock Robyns beautiful hand dyed velvets and wool felt pieces, and silk threads plus beatiful embroidery kits.
Many of our new Blocks of the Months are about to get under way. We now have a price for "All Cooped Up" BOM this is $36.00 per month for 9 months. These blocks are easy to make and can quite easily be made up as a wall hanging or there great as gifts. Lots of people are into Chooks!!!!
Check out our other BOMs on our website!! I am still working away at getting several of these quilts made up! (sometimes I am not given enough hours in the day or nite).
In the next few weeks I will be adding to our classes for May, June and July with some more of our great tutors. Jacqui Karl will be teaching machine quilting, she is fantastic on her machine and is great at teaching you how she does it!! she will be also be doing a wall hanging that will be suitable for hand stitching or machine stitching!! keep a look out for this one! Ngaire Brooks will be teaching a collection of "sewing thingies" for example a needle case, pencil case, scissor keep, tape measure cover, thimble holder, block roll and more. These are all awesome little bits and pieces and as most of you will know to do a class with Ngaire is a great weekend!!! This class has limited spaces so dont be slow!!
Each year we run a class for Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking machine embroidery ladies. This class provides a better understanding of the features of their machines. This year we are opening this class up to other embroidery machine users who have a sound knowledge of the embroidery features on their machine. If this sounds like you then call Jill for further details. This class will be starting in April and is a little different from our picture in our newsletter (you know we cant just simply follow a pattern we have to change everything!!). We have the quilt on the class room wall so ask to have a look at it.
A couple of new clubs for 2010 are Pincushion Club which make great gifts or collectables and Dinky Baby Doll Club. Our pincushion club has taken the fancy of alot of you and we have many of you doing it who are mail orders. This is great and our first pattern will be going out within the next week or so. Our Beautiful Dinky babies are so cute. Shelley and myself spent a couple of Fridays making up two of the dolls. Call in and have a look at them they are very cute. These will be available as a pattern to purchase as well as club day.
We are asked from time to time about our class lists that we used to mail out. We are no longer doing it but If you prefer to have a hard copy of the class list pick one up next time you are instore we are happy for you to have one.(we still do it but we just dont mail out). I really like the idea of the class list hanging around in your homes for a while reminding you of us!! its just that they are to expensive to post out to all of our 3000 on our mailing list. Emailing is so much easier !!
Well thats all for now have a great month!! and we look forward to catching up with you soon.
Happy Stitching
